$2000/Month Selling Gourmet Hand-Poured Lollipops + Tutoring & UGC
Highly profitable side hustles and small businesses you can start today
Happy Sunday Hustlers!
How’s everyone feeling, ready to crush this week and make those first steps to launching your very own side hustle? We got you.
Highly profitable side hustles are coming right up. But first, a huge thank you to everyone recently subscribed, you’re all amazing human beings and we couldn’t do this without you.
Now let’s get started.
Make over $2000/month selling gourmet hand-poured lollipops
A side hustle making mouth-watering candy? That’s not even the best bit… you can do this running an online store that only opens ONCE A MONTH.
Mik&Su are doing exactly this and making $2000/month. They produce gourmet, hand poured lollipops in exciting, unique colours and flavours before opening their Shopify store once a month for only a few hours to their loyal fans and completely selling out.
To get started, experiment with this recipe (tried and tested at SideNerds HQ). You can purchase lollipop moulds, sticks and packaging from Amazon and we recommend LorAnn for colors and flavours. They do everything from marshmallow and mint choc chip to pineapple and pomegranate and you can get creative with your own combinations.
There are hundreds of other tutorials online and with some trial and error you should be able to perfect your own secret recipe. There’s even an entire subreddit dedicated to candy makers if you need some expert help .
Most recipes use sugar as a base, but you don’t have to stop there. The sugar vs sweeteners debate rages on, but whatever your stance, low-sugar and sugar free diet options are a growing trend. Zollipops, started by 13 year old Alina Morse, capitalised on this with zero sugar lollipops and now generates over $6,000,000/year.
Once you’ve nailed the recipe, it’s time to set-up an online shop. Most website builders will work, but Shopify is generally the most popular and packed with features. Purchase a catchy domain name, start the Shopify free trial and add your lollipops to the site.
Now for your first customer, and the name of the game is Instagram and TikTok marketing. Film yourself creating the lollipops, pouring them into the moulds and packaging them up. Based on Mik&Su’s Instagram, people REALLY like the satisfying nature of pouring specifically, but we recommend making your own spin on this and getting creative by testing out different angles and moments from the creation process. Happy candy making!
Mandatory fun-killing note from our health and safety team: Molten sugar is HOT, handle with care.
Earn $100,000/year filming User Generated Content (UGC) for brands
Who knew you could get paid to film yourself reviewing interesting products? No audience or existing fanbase required, just you and a camera phone.
Brands are increasingly looking for natural, ‘non-salesy’ hands on product reviews from people within their target audience to use for marketing and social media, and will pay good money for it. The average price for a UGC video is $200 with some creators charging much more.
Billo.app is currently the number one marketplace for UGC creators. Just download the Billo app, apply for a task, start filming and get paid in free products and cash rewards paid out twice a week.
While Billo is great for getting start, we highly recommend creating your own website and contacting brands directly as soon as possible. Billo only pays $25-$50 per video, and by building up your own portfolio of UGC videos and developing direct relationships with companies, sending them your work through cold outreach (email, Instagram, LinkedIn), you can grow a loyal, recurring client base and start charging in the hundreds of dollars.
With enough time and dedication, this side hustle can scale to a six figure income. Check out Kelly Rocklin who earned $100,000 last year working just 10-15 hours per week, or Madi Coleman who was making six figures a year after only 8 months of UGC content creation.
To get started, we recommend this guide by TheCoffeeDate which runs through everything you need to know from start to finish.
Make $10,000/Month Online Tutoring Almost Anything
Online learning is here to stay, and parents will pay big bucks to make sure their children get top grades at school. The global online tutoring market is expected to reach USD 23.73 billion by 2030, driven largely by the adoption of smartphones amongst students and parents.
What’s more, tutoring and teaching online can be done from anywhere, and allows you set your own schedule and rates, with some tutors charging over $250 per hour for their services, such as magician Daniel Chan.
No good at maths, science or english? Don’t panic, because there are tutors out there for almost anything. Check out the life skills section on Outschool, where lessons include cooking, chess, public speaking, crochet and even tying your laces to name a few.
So how do you get a slice of this lucrative market? First make a list of every topic you have some subject matter knowledge. You don’t necessarily need a formal qualification, but the more qualified you are, the more valuable you’ll appear to potential tutees allowing you to charge a higher hourly rate.
Now that you’ve found your subject, start signing up to the main online tutoring website. We recommend Outschool, Wyzant and TakeLessons which all have thriving online learning communities for you to offer your services through.
These services are a great way to get discovered by a large audience of parents, but don’t neglect some good old fashioned local marketing. We suggest making flyers, posting on local community boards and using social media to get your name out there.
Stay consistent and once you start building up reviews and referrals this can turn into a serious money marker. Check out Jade Weatherington who made over $5000 within three months of online tutoring on Outschool and has now grown her small business to over $10,000 per month.
And that’s it for this week folks…
Or is it?
Do you own a goat? Check out Sweet Farm who charge $100 for just 10 minutes of goat time on your next Zoom meetings.
